Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz has shocked one and all with his new haircut at the US Open. The new buzz-cut look has made the 5-time Grand Slam winner almost unrecognisable at the US Open 2025. While some have been supportive of the new look, Alcaraz's friend Frances Tiafoe has made it clear that he is not a fan.
A video from the US Open dressing room has gone viral online - and it's pure gold. In the hilarious clip, Tiafoe sees Alcaraz's haircut for the first time, and the look of utter horror on his face says it all. It's the kind of reaction you'd expect if someone showed up to a black-tie event in flip-flops. Fans can’t get enough of it.
US Open 2025, Day 2: Updates
The American star was asked about the haircut before Alcaraz’s opening match in the tournament against Reilly Opelka.
"It's horrible. It's definitely terrible. I looked at him and I thought he looked aerodynamic. I don't know who told him to do that, but it is terrible," Tiafoe told the press.
The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz has become a major attraction at Grand Slams this year, with Spaniard Alcaraz beating Sinner in the French Open final, and world number one Sinner getting revenge at the Wimbledon final.
The prospect of a third major final between the two is one of the main storylines at the US Open, and 2022 champion Alcaraz underlined his Flushing Meadows title credentials by surging to a 5-0 lead in the Cincinnati Open final before Sinner retired due to illness.

Alcaraz will also be cautious to avoid a repeat of his 2024 US Open campaign, when he surprisingly exited in the second round.
The world number two's first opponent, Reilly Opelka, will fancy his chances on Monday. The 6-foot-11 American, known for his lightning-fast serves, defeated Novak Djokovic on hardcourt earlier this year.
"It's going to be really difficult playing Opelka for the first time. We all know his game style... I have to be ready for that, have to be focused on the return," Alcaraz said on Saturday.
"Trying to get good rhythm in the match... let's see. The confidence is high right now."
