ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, experienced a global outage, leaving many users unable to access the service. Reports flooded in, indicating widespread issues affecting various aspects of the platform.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, a significant number of users reported problems. Approximately 91% of those affected encountered issues while trying to access ChatGPT. Around 7% were unable to access the website altogether, while the remaining users struggled to log into their accounts.
The outage sparked a wave of posts on X (formerly Twitter), with users expressing their frustration and reporting the disruption.
OpenAI has acknowledged the service interruption, providing updates on the situation.
OpenAI's official status page confirmed the outage, citing "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs." The company worked to resolve the issue and restore normal service.
The official OpenAI Status page announced that the service is now operational again and the latency issue has been resolved. "Performance is now back to normal," the page stated.
The TOI Tech team verified the restoration, successfully accessing ChatGPT via both the website and the mobile app. The service appeared to be functioning smoothly without any noticeable problems.
