The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations recognizing the potential of such tournaments.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still in the process of determining a suitable window for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other key details are also yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra already provide a platform for local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
