South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan have yet to start their WTC campaigns.

India faced a setback in their opening match, despite a strong batting performance at Headingley. England successfully chased down the target of 371, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-Test Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Ben Duckett (149) and Zak Crawley laid a solid foundation for England, while Joe Root and Jamie Smith completed the chase with an unbeaten partnership. India's middle-order collapse and dropped catches proved costly.

Following the match, Shubman Gill acknowledged that India missed opportunities to capitalize on their chances. He noted that the team had aimed for a larger lead, but a lack of runs from the lower order hindered their plans.

India is now focusing on the second Test at Edgbaston, seeking a quick turnaround to revitalize their WTC campaign. Currently, they are positioned near the bottom of the table alongside the West Indies.

The WTC cycle commenced on June 17 with Sri Lanka's tour of Bangladesh and will culminate in the final in 2027.
