Smriti Mandhana Enters Record Books with Historic Century
Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana achieved a remarkable feat on Saturday, becoming the first Indian woman to score centuries in all three international cricket formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
Mandhana's historic moment occurred during the first T20I match between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. She delivered a stunning innings, scoring 112 runs off just 62 balls.
As captain, Mandhana led the charge with a dominant display that included 15 fours and three impressive sixes. Her aggressive and composed innings propelled India to a formidable total of 210/5 in 20 overs – their highest-ever T20I score against England.
This century was also Mandhana's first in T20Is, completing a rare achievement that no other Indian woman batter had accomplished before. Her century set an aggressive tone, combining elegance with power, and neutralizing England’s top spinners like Sophie Ecclestone with fearless strokeplay.
Harleen Deol (43 off 23) and Deepti Sharma (7 not out off 3) also made valuable contributions, helping India maintain a strong run rate. Lauren Bell was the most successful of England’s bowlers with three wickets.
Mandhana's accomplishment places her among the elite cricketers globally, as only a select few have scored centuries in all three formats. Her milestone is a defining moment not only for her career but also for Indian women’s cricket, inspiring a new generation of cricketers to dream big and overcome obstacles.
With this commanding performance, Mandhana has once again demonstrated why she is a leading figure in Indian women’s cricket – consistent, fearless, and record-breaking.
