English Fan's Unexpected Ode to Akash Deep Goes Viral After Edgbaston Triumph
Following Akash Deep's stellar performance at Edgbaston, where he claimed 10 wickets in India's series-leveling victory, an unexpected tribute has emerged. The 28-year-old bowler's figures of 6 for 99 in the second innings capped off a match haul of 10 for 187, earning him accolades from across the cricketing world.
A video circulating on social media captures an English fan singing a song for Akash Deep outside the Edgbaston ground. The fan can be heard chanting, "Akash Deep, Akash Deep Bowling England Out, Akash Deep!"
Adding to the praise, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar hailed Akash Deep as the "standout bowler" of the match. Tendulkar described Deep's delivery to dismiss Joe Root in the second innings as the "ball of the series."
Tendulkar shared his appreciation on X, stating, "India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled. Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
He also humorously acknowledged Siraj’s impressive diving catch at short mid-wicket, commenting, "Enjoyed the catch taken by Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj."
