The 40-year-old football icon reaffirmed his commitment in a video released by Al Nassr, declaring, "Al Nassr forever." His initial arrival in 2023 triggered a wave of high-profile players moving to the Saudi League.
Speculation about Ronaldo's future arose after he posted "This chapter is over" following Al Nassr's third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League, without any silverware.
A source from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) told AFP, "Ronaldo's presence is a key factor in developing the Saudi league in the last two years and a half. He opens the door for elite and young players to come to Saudi Arabia."
The Saudi PIF manages multiple Pro League clubs, including Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ahli.
This extension contrasts with Neymar's departure from Al Hilal in January. The Brazilian star played only seven matches in his 18-month stint, reportedly earning $104 million annually.
Despite leading the league with 25 goals, Ronaldo has yet to win any Saudi or continental titles with Al Nassr. The team recently suffered a defeat in the Asian Champions League semi-finals.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had previously hinted at the possibility of ending his illustrious career with Al Nassr.
Saudi Arabia has heavily invested in attracting European talent, starting with Ronaldo's transfer in late 2022. The nation is also preparing to host the 2034 World Cup.
Fans have been thrilled to watch football legends such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who together boast six Ballons d'Or, in regular league games.
Some analysts have compared the Saudi Pro League to the Chinese Super League, which previously attracted players with lucrative contracts before encountering financial challenges.
The Saudi Pro League's growth is part of the country's broader plan to become a major tourism and business hub before global oil demand declines.
Ronaldo initially joined Al Nassr two years ago in a deal reportedly worth $250 million, a move that marked a significant chapter in his career in Saudi Arabian football.
